Meet the filmmaker behind the work

The exhibition Fußball: Football has been praised in the press, while the artwork “Deep play”, which uses manipulated footage of the football world cup in Germany in 2006, is currently showing on twelve large screens in Banksalen and inside the station building of Oslo S. This week visitors can meet the man behind these successful films.

Born in the former Czechoslovakia, Harun Farocki works with film. He is well known for his thought provoking treatments of film material. His films raise questions about visual objectivity.

These two lectures offer people a chance to become better acquainted with this interesting filmmaker.

Kai Fjell: Likkjøreren

Art appetizer about Kai Fjell

Time: Thursday 8 November at 12.00
Venue: National Museum – Art
(National Gallery), Universitetsgata 13

In 1937, thirty-year-old Kai Fjell (1907–89) achieved his breakthrough as an artist with a successful exhibition at Kunstnernes Hus. He continued to be active right up until his death close to the age of 82.

Art historian Anita Rebolledo wrote her masters thesis “Fra moderske til madonna” (From the Maternal to the Madonna) about Kai Fjell’s female figures. In this week’s art appetizer, she reflects on the two pictures Kalven reiser seg (The Rising Calf) and Likkjøreren (The Hearse Driver).
